I love this girl. She truly is one of those skaters that doesn't even have to leave the ice to keep you captivated.

She is just stunning on the ice, its just heart breaking about her injuries. I wish her the best of luck @ Nationals.

she has said that she really wanted to go into pairs, but there aren't boys in japan who want to go into pairs

I dunno, she might have grown up but consider Slutskaya. So, I still hope there is a hope for Yukina.

She had a severe leg injury and was not able to skate for a long time, plus she grew a bit, so trying to return to competetive shape after that was like starting from a scratch.
Her coach said that there isn't much more he can to to help Yukina regain her jumps. Her body just doesn't handle the training well.
It's really a shame, she was so talented. Perhaps if she went into dance as soon as it was obvious that she will not be able to jump as well as she used to... Now it might be too late.

I wonder what has happened to her. In 2003, she looked like she was going to be the next super star from Japan with so much talent in the artistry area with her music interpretation and body movements. Back then she had the all the triples except the Axel, but now, she's down to only being able to land 2 easiest triples. Has the growth spurt or an injury made it difficult for her to be able to land the more difficult jumps now? It's such a shame. |
